Job Description 

  • Language Acquisition (HOD) inspire a unified ethos throughout the team by building on existing good practice and a shared love and commitment to the study of foreign languages and foreign culture.
  • To manage and carry out the performance management of French, German and subject teachers.
  • To work with French, German, and subject teachers to identify where a more consistent approach, joint development and the wider sharing of existing good practice would be of benefit to all.
  • To support and encourage teachers in curriculum development.
  • To foster, promote and co-ordinate cross curricular approaches and developments.
  • To liaise with academic coordinator over timetabling and to contribute as necessary to the planning of the school timetable.
  • To maintain an up to date set of schemes of work and syllabuses for all areas within the faculty.

  • Appropriate qualification and demonstrated expertise in relevant subject area(s).
  • Current VIT registration.
  • Detailed understanding of curriculum issues at state, national and international levels .
  • Proven use of technology in the classroom.
  • An ability to support staff through periods of curriculum change.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage the complexities of a diverse team.
