IGCSE DIPLOMA

LIS British School is accredited by the three board of England, Cambridge Assessment International Education, Pearson Edexcel & Oxford International AQA Examinations. At LIS, we provide a broad and thorough program for children aged 14+ to 18+. Early on, each child studies a range of subjects that build upon their interests and develop their skills. Subsequently, students choose to specialize in subjects according to their strengths, interests and future aspirations.

During their last three years of School, from Year 10 to 12, students will be doing their IGCSEs. The school provides a variety of subjects from different Exam Boards.

In year 10, students must study five subjects out of the eight IGCSEs.
In year 11, students complete their eight IGCSEs and should start their A-levels by studying AS subjects.
In year 12, students complete their A-Level courses by studying the second component.

As for students wishing to join LIS after Year 11, students must have gained at least:
eight A*-C GCSE’s.

In addition to the student’s academic results, his / her attendance, punctuality, behavior and overall commitment to learning will also be reviewed and taken into consideration. 85% attendance must be maintained throughout Year 12. If this is not achieved we are not obliged to enter students in their final examinations.

LIS ARABIC STUDIES

We follow the requirements of the Egyptian Ministry of Education for Arabic, Religion and Arabic Social Studies according to the national curriculum. We believe that students must be equipped with strong ethical and cultural beliefs as well as a profound sense of identity, hence, Arabic is taught and integrated in our daily curriculum. Assessments have a vital role in our learning process. Ongoing assessments and observations inform teachers of areas to focus on for future planning and allow teachers to successfully track and monitor student attainment and progress. Accordingly, formative and summative assessments are used all year.
