We are

LIS EDUCATION

The beating heart of any educational establishment is learning. Learning can take place in many forms (academically, socially, spiritually, emotionally and physically). Our curriculum provides all our children to learn and develop in many ways. Nobody can predict the nature of work and life opportunities that will be available for our children in the future. Our curriculum has a strong focus upon a skills based approach to prepare all children for the fast changing world in which they will be living in.

The English National Curriculum (ENC) is widely regarded as a rigorous program that ensures a high quality provision. It is recognized and valued by the international community. Our curriculum is firmly based on the ENC and fully reflects recent changes made by the UK government, however we are doing it our way within our Blended Education (British Approach, American Core, IB way).

At LIS we encourage active and co-operative learning. Learning is central to all we do. Not only do our staff have a responsibility to ensure that our children learn and develop but we also encourage our children to take responsibility for their own learning:

LIS Curriculum enables students to succeed by recognizing that lasting success is contingent on both academic performance and emotional wellbeing. It has been designed to bring wellbeing to all teaching and learning and to develop global skills through all core subjects.

LIS Curriculum for Wellbeing supports the practice of healthy habits of body and mind to enhance the lives of teachers and learners, giving them skills they can apply in their lives today and in the future. This focus on wellbeing aims to promote good mental health to enhance students’ lives inside and outside of the classroom.
LIS Curriculum for Global Skills Projects combines project-based and interdisciplinary learning to develop thoughtful, innovative change-makers who are equipped with the skills to succeed in an ever-evolving world.
Thematic units of age-appropriate fiction and non-fiction expose students to rich language texts from around the world, to develop core English skills.
Structured teaching frameworks, clear learning objectives and assessment criteria ensure confident delivery of all the core skills for first and second language learners.
Clear teaching scaffolding ensures effective progression for every student throughout the whole of primary.
Teacher Resource Books provide step-by-step guidance on delivery of the core skills effectively and consistently.
Workbooks provide language practice to support students’ skills development and offer a record of progress.

OUR "GREAT" PROGRAM

Our GREAT Program uses a "whole-child" approach where each pupil has a GREAT profile across each subject so that we can assist them in developing their strengths and interests. Each subject area has a cohort to stretch and challenge, and pupils who are gifted and talented in three or more disciplines join our whole school "Talented and Gifted cohort" where they will be given extra guidance and mentorship to truly fulfill their potential.

REPORTING

Written reports are issued THREE times per year. Parents are also invited to attend Parents’ Day to discuss the welfare and academic progress of their children.

CLASSES AND RESOURCES

We are well resourced with books and equipment which allows the children to have the first-hand experiences they need. The students learn in a healthy environment with bright, colorful classrooms overlooking playgrounds or green fields. All classes have access to a specialized science lab, computer lab, dedicated music rooms and an exciting, creative learning space for art lessons.

PROJECT-BASED LEARNING

LIS effectively uses “Project-Based Learning” and authentic approaches such as portfolio-based and performance-based assessments. Students develop 21st-century skills such as: communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, technology, and literacy while working on curriculum-based or year-round self-initiated projects. Learning becomes relevant and meaningful; assessments are based on rubrics.
