PARENT - TEACHER ASSOCIATION

The PTA, or Parent Teacher Association, is a group of parents, family members, teachers, and staff members who want to help our school.

The purpose of the LIS PTA is to support the education of students by fostering a cooperative relationship between parents, teachers, support staff, school administrators, and the surrounding community.

In addition, we strive to enhance and support the educational experience, develop a close connection between school, home and community by encouraging parental involvement, and improve the environment at LIS through volunteer and financial support.

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is a vital part of the school community at Liverpool International School and brings together the whole school community by organizing and hosting various events throughout the academic year and supporting new families to ensure they feel welcomed beyond the classroom.

The PTA works in collaboration with our parent community and typically organizes the following types of events:

Whole-school fairs, on the school site, which include activities, games, food and drink, outside vendors and musical entertainment by students.
Parent events held off-site in the evening.
Refreshments at performing arts and sporting events.
Courses / Lectures for parents, in conjunction with PTA.
Casual coffee mornings, providing an opportunity to meet staff and other parents.

PTA MISSION

PTA’s mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

WHY PTA ?

Because we understand that when parents, communities, and teachers work together our children achieve more.

Because we understand the importance of a child advocacy association. Because issues affecting our children do not just happen at our school level.

Because we do not just worry about our own children; we care about children regardless of race, religion, or socio‐economic status.

Because we can build on the strengths and successes of PTAs nationwide, and we have access to support resources. We do not do it alone.

Because without a proper foundation, your parent organization will change from year to year depending on who is in charge.

WHAT DOES PTA OFFER ?

PTA understands the difficult roles parents and teachers have in helping our children thrive. We provide organized means to promote parent and community involvement, and networking to enrich education and welfare for all students.
PTA understands that the people who volunteer to run a parent association do not always come with the training to do so. PTA offers all of its officers training to be effective leaders.
PTA understands that when it comes to issues affecting our students' lives, parents and teachers, who know children best, must also have a say in those discussions and policies.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR OUR SCHOOL ?

Forming a PTA at LIS connects you with a nationwide network of resources, programs, and assistance. We also offer training in running our Parent Teacher Association. Training volunteers is invaluable as it helps our organization steer away from common pitfalls and problems that often affect parent organizations. PTA also offers support by providing answers, advice, and encouragement.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR OUR STUDENTS ?

PTA works tirelessly on behalf of children. Students benefit from the PTA advocating for them and with them. Students also benefit from healthy communities that PTA seeks to build by working with our community members. Students enjoy enhanced educational opportunities in schools where PTA members volunteer and work with the team.
