Job Description
- The PYP / MYP / DP Coordinator’s job is to review and maintain PYP/MYP written curriculum both vertically and horizontally to align with PYP/MYP IB scope and sequence identifying content and outcome.
- To monitor the unit planning for each course so that the objectives and highest-level attainment are reached.
- To work closely with individual teachers on strategies and planning designed to integrate curriculum and instruction.
- To set assessment procedures for quizzes, formative and summative measures.
- To ensure continuous contact with the IB organization consultant to fulfill the American/ IB standards in the school.
- To assist in developing classroom teaching strategies that allow for the effective application of education research (inquiry).
- To continually monitor the effective delivery of each subject by visiting classrooms regularly in order to view close-hand the implementation of curriculum and the use of appropriate instructional strategies.
- Lead teaching teams in the development of curriculum programs using the American Diploma PYP/ MYP/ DP frameworks.
- Motivate staff; develop good rapport with colleagues, students and the community and work effectively in a team situation.
- In collaboration with the School Principal & the Academic Director, compile curriculum articles for School publications and fortnightly newsletters; and Prepare and chair staff meetings, as required.
- Mentor some teachers according to the Staff Appraisal Scheme; ensuring their continued professional development.
Job Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of solid and demonstrable experience within an IB Curriculum School
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (Preferably bilingual English & French)
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Good time management skills.
- High level of proficiency with technology.
- Excellent command in using Microsoft Office, and Smart Boards
- Experience working with students.
